Summer Start Activities
Evening and weekend programs are built into the five-week schedule to enhance your experience and help you transition into college life. Most first-semester college students admit that they are nervous about being away from their family/friends, adjusting to life on their own, handling the demands of college level academics and simply finding their way around campus. Summer START's programming will help you tackle your fears with activities designed to develop your self-confidence and academic prowess.
We collaborate heavily with University Housing and other campus partners to develop a diverse range of social, academic, and transition programs to help students acclimate to the NC State community. University Housing, Campus Recreation, Undergraduate Research, the Center for Student Leadership, Ethics, and Public Service (CSLEPS), the Counseling Center and many others will offer programs throughout the summer. In addition to the numerous on campus programs there will be weekly cookouts that give students the opportunities to socialize with their peers, but also instructors and campus administrators. With so many options it will be hard to not find a program that interests you.
These are just a few of the opportunities that will be available this summer. Summer START mentors work with students to find what they are interested in and making sure they know the opportunities that are available. Summer START is not only a chance to get ahead academically, but to also get involved early with campus and student groups.
