Transfer START is designed to assist incoming transfer students with their transition into NC State through five weeks of academic and social programming. Transfer START will allow you to get a jumpstart on your experience by providing a strong introduction to the culture of NC State and to the surrounding community.
Transfer START takes place during Summer Session II and will be limited to 50 transfer students. Transfer START gives students an opportunity to begin their career at NC State during the summer with a focus on academics, research, and professional development. Transfer START aims to assist students in building their resume to transition into positions in research labs and have the experience needed to be competitive in finding internships and employment.
To be a part of Transfer START, students will take 5 credit hours which include 3 credit hours in ENG 333: Communication for Science and Research and a 2 credit Interdisciplinary Studies course focused on professional development and undergraduate research. During the summer students can take up to 8 credit hours. Students will have the option of taking an additional course of their choice. Popular courses include E 115: Introduction to Computing Environments or a Physical Education course.
Aside from academics, Transfer START staff will provide optional programming throughout the summer to encourage students to interact with faculty and administrators, socialize, and get involved with campus organizations. Transfer START aims to provide students with opportunities to succeed academically, build a strong resume, and find their place here at NC State.
